It was another night to remember at the DC Fashion Week Haute and Modesty show, the fourth time this full night of modest fashion was featured in our nation's capitol. The show featured full designer showcases by Prime Exchange, Queen Aminah Designs, and Abayat Raqia, along with an incredible showing of Indonesian fashions by Dian Pelangi and more presented by the Indonesian Boutique. In addition, my very own 'Styles by Hakeemah' showcase blazed the catwalk in which I featured designs by Urban Modesty, Mizaan, Hazanah, Tru Designs, Artizara, and The CMB Collection.
The CMB Collection at DCFW
Launched at the February 2014 DC Fashion Week show, The CMB Collection is CMB's original line of headscarves, handmade and designed by me! This time around, I featured only one design on the runway and focused more on my vending table for sales. I was honored to have help by Faiza Alwarith, fellow modest fashion blogger, who helped so much at my table as I busied myself backstage (THANK YOU SO MUCH FAIZA!). Special DCFW prices are now available on the website , head over to grab your faves at special prices!
What I Wore - MAZAstyle
I love ankara (African fashion), and I always wanted to wear a full African print outfit, but I hadn't found that perfect look as of yet. So when the designer behind MAZAstyle contacted to me and offered to create my look for the night, I was over the moon! She made a peplum jacket and matching full volume skirt, which can be worn together for a more formal occasion, or separately! Check out MAZAstyle on IG and FB, or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Special Thanks to Fabhima!
I want to give special thanks to my partner in style, Fahima Abdul aka Fabhima, for helping tremendously backstage in this show and the September. She is a great friend and a talented stylist and I was honored wit work with her again! THANK YOU FAHIMA!
Behind the Scenes - 'Styles by Hakeemah'
The models of DCFW are always the sweetest to work with, very beautiful and highly-talented. One of the things I love about doing the Haute and Modesty show is that the models are all non-Muslim, and this may be their first experience in modeling modest fashion. The feedback is always incredible - they love how they feel in the garments, they love how unique they look, and they are grateful for the opportunity to dress in the items. What a great da3wah opportunity!
And now the moment we've all been waiting for...all the looks and all the links to where you can purchase the looks in captions below each photo! Enjoy!

Thank you to Areej Fashions producers Nisa Islam and Baqiyah Adam for organizing an incredible show, as well as DC Fashion Week for valuing modest fashion enough to put it on center stage! We'll be back in September inshallah!!
